July 2026 brought 6.40 inches of rain to Willis — up 37% from July 2025’s 4.66 inches — with the month’s most significant event on July 14 depositing 1.24 inches and keeping soils saturated through the following weekend. As one of the fastest-growing communities in Montgomery County and a direct extension of The Woodlands’ northern growth corridor, Willis is experiencing both the mosquito pressure typical of Lake Conroe’s north shore and the pest displacement that accompanies rapid residential development. July 2026 reflected both simultaneously.
Mosquito treatment requests peaked in the days following each of the month’s major rain events, with Lake Conroe’s north shore communities — including properties along the Longbow and north end lake corridors — reporting the most sustained activity. Lake Conroe’s 22,000-acre surface functions as a permanent mosquito reservoir for north shore communities in the same way it does for Conroe and Montgomery to the south. We completed 14 mosquito barrier treatments in the Willis area in July — up 31% versus the same period last year.
Willis’s construction activity along the I-45 and FM 1097 corridors is accelerating pest displacement into established neighborhoods. Active grading for new residential pads pushes fire ant and rodent populations outward, and our technicians consistently see higher mound counts in neighborhoods adjacent to active build sites than in comparable areas further from construction. Willis added several hundred new residential units in the first half of 2026, and pest pressure from those displacement events is compounding with the area’s elevated summer rainfall.
Termite inspection demand was elevated in July as the combination of wet soil and summer heat accelerated subterranean termite activity — Willis’s older downtown sections are entering the age window for first-generation termite pressure. Fire ants rebuilt aggressively after each rain event throughout the month. The 91°F average high drove cockroaches indoors consistently through the second half of July. General pest control accounted for 37 of our 58 July stops in the Willis area.
